NEW YORK – February 12, 2009 – This week’s TechAdvantage 2009 Learning Labs will feature an important examination of the advantages and disadvantages of utility industry use of wireless broadband communications -- particularly their value to smart grid roadmap strategy. Arcadian Networks’ Vice President of IT, Engineering, and Network Operations Technology Jake Rasweiler will lead a panel discussion at 1:15 p.m. Friday, February 13th at TechAdvantage.
The panel, “Wireless Broadband in the Co-op Community: a Smart Grid Case Study,” features Ed Budde, Systems Engineer for Connexus Energy, and Linda LaTourelle, IT Manager for East Central Energy. Budde and LaTourelle will share lessons learned through implementation of a 700 MHz licensed wireless IP communications network. Each will comment on practical ways the network is laying a foundation for future smart grid uses at their co-operative.
Rasweiler, a 20-year veteran of business process and engineering specialties, is a respected thought leader in wireless network design, site development, field operations, and construction. His writings –- on urban network design, microcell technology, and critical infrastructure communications -- have appeared in utility trade publications worldwide. He is a frequent presenter at international conferences.
