Energy policy expert to provide legislative policy leadership as federally funded smart grid projects get underway nationwide
NEW YORK – November 30, 2009 – Arcadian Networks announced today that Mark Maddox has been elected to a second term on the GridWise Alliance board of directors. GridWise is an influential consortium of more than a hundred public and private stakeholders aligned around a shared vision of a fully integrated electric system. Maddox, whose two-year term will begin in January 2010, will continue leading the Alliance’s Legislative Policy Working Group and delivering energy policy insight based on a distinguished 25-year career as a senior strategic policy, communications, and government relations expert.
As $3.4 billion in Department of Energy (DOE) Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) projects unfold across the nation, Maddox’s experience as a former assistant secretary of the DOE will make him a valuable asset. Maddox brings fresh perspective to the board from his role as chief strategist on government policy for Arcadian Networks, a provider of vital smart grid enabling communications for utilities through private licensed broadband wireless IP networks. Current Arcadian Networks projects link distributed assets (including wind farms) to the electric grid and enable automated metering infrastructure (AMI), SCADA, and other essential smart grid technologies.
